Listen, you can spend thousands of dollars and days planning a once-a-year vacation, or you can live life to the fullest affordably and effortlessly every weekend. All it takes is one night away to replenish from a hard week's work and get a genuine feeling of escape.

What makes us truly unique compared to other travel sites is the authenticity of our trip ideas. All content is submitted and reviewed by local users who are in the know. Everyone has a favorite local getaway, hotel, festival, or day trip. Our website is an exhaustive collection of these.

Personalized: LocalTripper organizes all content according to trip themes to help you conveniently plan your getaway. For example, some hotels are great for romantic getaways while others are more suited for a night on the town. Our themes help you to find the right hotel for any getaway.

User-based: The site revolves around user-generated content so that any member or event promoter can contribute his or her ideas. This model makes the site more authentic, manageable, and extendible across many regions.

LocalTripper was founded by former college classmates, colleagues, and Southern California natives, Oliver Muyshondt and Michael Adams. The idea for LocalTripper came to Oliver in business school, where he discovered that the majority of travel is regional and short in duration. Despite the volume of local travel, he realized there are few good resources for people to explore original getaways that don't cater to tourists. Utilizing his experience in the online travel industry, Oliver decided to launch a local travel website that focuses exclusively on the regional getaway traveler. 

Oliver reached out to Michael to develop a website that captures local, word-of-mouth knowledge in a way that no other site does. After several months of market planning and product development, they launched LocalTripper.com in beta form in May of 2009. The Company is based in Irvine, CA and focuses on Southern California with plans to expand nationally. As you read this, Oliver, Michael and their team of Southern California content specialists are hard at work helping you to “make every weekend a vacation.”
